  • Rebecca Lawire

    Manager & Owner

With over 17 years of experience working with and supporting children and families, Becca brings passion, talent and a deep sense of care to her role as the owner and manager of RLO. She is known for her unwavering commitment to the team and her ability to manage with both confidence and warmth. Becca’s leadership style is rooted in helping her team of practitioners grow and excel in their roles, ensuring that everyone is equipped to provide the best care possible for the children.

Beyond her leadership responsibilities, Becca is always approachable and eager to provide support to families facing challenges. Whether it’s offering a compassionate listening ear, practical guidance or tailored advice. She draws upon her vast experience and in-depth understanding of child development and family dynamics to make a positive difference in the lives of those she encounters daily. Her ability to connect with families on a personal level fosters trust and reassurance, making RLO not just a place of learning but a true community hub.

When she’s not at RLO, Becca is a busy mum of two little ones. You will probably see and hear her youngest running around trying to ‘help’ and welcoming new friends into the setting.

  • Orla Leitch

    Lead Practitioner

Orla joined the RLO team in October 2021 and has been an integral part of the team ever since. Starting her journey as an Early Years Practitioner, Orla quickly progressed to Room Leader and now plays a key role in both our admin operations and supporting in the playroom whenever needed. Her dedication, strong organisational skills and calm, supportive nature makes her a pillar of strength for both her colleagues and the families we work with.

As one of the first friendly faces new families meet, Orla plays an important part in welcoming parents and children during their settling-in period. Her warm, approachable nature helps to build trusting relationships from the start, laying a strong foundation for meaningful partnerships with families throughout their time at RLO.

Since joining RLO, Orla has completed her SVQ Level 7 in Social Services (Children and Young People) and continues to seek out opportunities to expand her knowledge and skills. She’s passionate about sharing her learning with the wider team, always helping to raise the quality of care and education we provide.

Beyond RLO, Orla keeps busy with babysitting and nannying for local families—a role she finds incredibly rewarding. Her love for working with children shines through in everything she does.

  • Laura Harrison

    Practitioner

Laura joined the RLO team in February 2022 and has been a valued member of our team ever since. From day one, she has brought a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development. She finds great joy in watching the little ones grow and reach new milestones. It it clear that being part of their journey is something she finds deeply rewarding.

Her dedication and warmth has made her a wonderful addition to our caring and passionate team. Laura describes it as a privilege to work alongside her colleagues and is excited to continue her journey with RLO.

In addition to her role at RLO, Laura also nannies for two families during the week, a role she adores. She completed her HNC in Childhood Practice in 2021 and has continued to grow and develop professionally with us ever since.

Outside of work she enjoys catching up with friends both locally and in East Lothian and makes time for her many creative hobbies. Whether it’s sewing, embroidery, painting or baking Laura loves creating special handmade items for her loved ones which is a perfect way for her to relax and unwind.

  • Erin Bowen

    Practitioner

Erin joined the RLO team in November 2024 and quickly became a valued member of the setting. She settled into her role as Practitioner with ease, bringing a calm, nurturing presence and a mature, thoughtful approach that is deeply appreciated by both her team and the families we support.

Erin holds an SVQ Level 7 in Social Services (Children and Young People) and has over four years of previous experience working full-time in a private nursery. Her strong understanding of child development shines through in her day-to-day practice—she’s full of creative ideas and is highly responsive to the individual needs of the little ones in her care.

Whether she’s supporting children in their learning, offering a helping hand to a colleague, or simply sharing a warm smile, Erin brings kindness and compassion to everything she does.

Outside of work, Erin loves spending time with her family and friends and making lots of memories together.

  • Callie Sproule

    Trainee Practitioner

Callie joined the RLO team in April 2024 and has quickly become a much-loved member of staff. She brings plenty of energy, laughter and positivity into the playroom and it’s no surprise that she has already earned the nickname “the baby whisperer.” With her natural warmth and calm approach, she is often found surrounded by a happy group of little ones, fully engaged and having fun.

Since starting with RLO, Callie has achieved her NC in Childhood Practice and is now working towards her HNC. She is always eager to learn new skills and put them into practice, and she brings a fresh, creative approach to her role. Whether she is setting up play spaces, designing colourful posters, or creating new resources, her ideas help to spark curiosity and encourage the children to explore and learn in exciting ways.

Outside of work, Callie has a real passion for music and loves nothing more than heading to concerts, discovering new artists, and (of course!) obsessing over Harry Styles. She also enjoys spending quality time with her friends, catching up.

  • Hannah Schafer

    Trainee Practitoner

Hannah joined the RLO team in September 2024 and has brought warmth, energy and creativity with her from day one. Whether she’s leading a make-believe trip into space or adventuring around the world through role play, Hannah sparks imagination and curiosity in the little ones every day.

She recently completed her BSc in Psychology with Honours at the University of Edinburgh and is currently working towards her SVQ Level 7 in Social Services (Children and Young People). Hannah is deeply committed to supporting children’s learning and development in meaningful and engaging ways.

Beyond RLO, Hannah runs her local Sunday school, supporting children in her wider community, and spends her summers working and travelling with youth camps—a role she finds incredibly rewarding.

When she’s not working, Hannah enjoys relaxing with a good book, knitting, or trying her hand at embroidery. She also loves spending time with friends and family, often out and about exploring Edinburgh’s many coffee shops. (If you know a hidden gem, be sure to let her know!)

  • Connie Knowles

    Support worker

Connie joined the RLO team in March 2024 and has brought warmth, laughter and a positive energy that’s felt by everyone around her. Kind, caring, and naturally curious, Connie approaches her work with enthusiasm and a genuine love for supporting the little ones in their development and learning.

She is currently studying Psychology at the University of Edinburgh with hopes to specialise in children and young people in the future. Her academic background, combined with her hands-on experience at RLO, gives her a thoughtful and engaging approach to working with children. Connie is always eager to learn more, ask questions and grow in her role. Which makes her a wonderful support to both her team and the families we work with.

When she’s not at RLO, Connie is often busy studying, working or spending time with her young nephew, who she absolutely adores. Her love for children extends well beyond the nursery setting and it’s clear she’s passionate about the work she does.

Outside of work and study, Connie enjoys travelling, being outdoors, and making memories with her family and friends.
